About me

Hi, my name is Aleksandra. I am a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist specialising in assessment and therapy with children, young people, and their families. I have many years of experience working across different health and social care settings such as child development service, looked after children service, psychiatric inpatient unit. For over the past 10 years, I have worked in a busy, inner London child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) and have held a managerial role for over the past 5 years contributing to the development of innovative services for young people.

My area of interest and specialism is working with young people aged 13 to 25 years as well as with their parents. I have had the privilege to work with young people from different social and cultural backgrounds and I have supported them with various difficulties including anxiety, depression, relationships, loss as well as life transitions.

Whilst I draw upon a range of evidence based psychological approaches to meet the young person’s needs and achieve their personal goals, I have particular interest and training in providing Time-Limited Adolescent Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (TAPP). I am accredited as a TAPP practitioner by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). I am also trained in several evidence-based parenting interventions (i.e. attachment based, Incredible Years, Triple P) and I have had the privilege to work with parents of teenagers both individually and in a group setting.

Coming from a different culture myself and being bilingual has given me the unique experience of bridging diverse perspectives in therapy. Although I am mindful of potential challenges of navigating cultural misunderstandings, I am also aware of the potential it offers to connect deeply with people from various backgrounds and communicate in more nuanced ways.

As a clinical psychologist I have also completed play based therapy training that has instilled in me a playful mindset that I bring even to my work with older children, helping to break barriers, build trust and encourage openness.

My aim is to offer a safe therapeutic space in which to think about and make sense of difficult feelings and experiences and to provide opportunities for understanding and learning.

I am committed to upholding confidentiality, but I also understand that involving parents and caregivers can be important. Therefore, I offer advice and consultation to key people within a young person’s network, with permission and as required.

Getting started

The first session can be attended by both the young person and their parent/s depending on their age and circumstances.

Therapy sessions will be held at the same time and day each week, and this is agreed with you before therapy begins.

I will make sure you are informed well ahead of the time of therapy breaks in the summer, at Christmas and Easter.

our regular attendance is important; your session times are preserved so all sessions you miss are charged. Times I am not available are not charged.
