Jenny Singh – Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist & Counsellor
About me
Hello, I’m Jenny (she/her). I am a fully qualified, BACP registered, psychodynamic psychotherapist and counsellor. I specialise in working with children and adolescents, and I have 20 years of experience working with young people within the school system. I was previously a teacher and chose a career change so that I could help support young people’s emotional well-being, which I believe underpins everything else.
Therapeutically I have worked with children and adolescents who are struggling with a range of difficulties including: trauma, anxiety, depression, loss, bereavement, parent separation and identity. I also have experience of working with and supporting neurodivergent young people.
I am passionate about providing support for young people to process their difficult feelings and experiences. I offer an open, non-judgemental, safe space in which trust can be built and where, together, we can start to explore any issues a child may be experiencing.
In our sessions there will be opportunities to play and draw, as well as talk. Whilst I am trained in the Psychodynamic modality, my one-to-one therapy sessions are always client-centred and adapted to the individual in front of me.
I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy with Children and Adolescents, and a Graduate Certificate in Psychodynamic Practice.
In addition to therapeutic work with young people, I can also offer Parenting Support sessions to help scaffold the work taking place with the child or to offer support in times of family difficulty, and I can offer observation sessions of a child within a school setting if this is required.
Getting started
Please send me an email with a brief description of your situation and any other relevant information.
I then offer a free initial Zoom or telephone call for up to 15 minutes. During this time you can ask any questions you have and if you would like to proceed, we can establish a timeline for getting started. Initially, I will carry out an assessment call or meeting with you without your child present, in order to get a full picture of the current situation.
It can take time to build up trust and for young people to feel comfortable in a therapy setting. In order to allow this to develop I would recommend a minimum of 5 sessions at the start. Following this, sessions can be booked in blocks or individually.
