About me

Hello, welcome to my page, where I hope you’ll enjoy reading about me, the type of psychotherapist I am and what psychotherapy with me might be like.

I am qualified and accredited with UKCP as a gestalt psychotherapist and I work with groups, individuals as well as couples and individuals in intimate relationships.

My practice is gestalt in its origins which is quite an integrative model.

The therapy I offer is body based, relational, trauma informed, creative and experiential. I work with your awareness – your sense of self, what’s happening around you and in your life.

Psychotherapy can take you to some depth in relation to your experience, past and present and significant markers in your stories.

Narratives also play a key role in better understanding yourself and inviting the changes you want into your process and subsequently, into your life.

My background

Nowadays, everyone is trauma informed. What this means in my room is that I have a particular interest in historical events and processes which left an imprint of harm and pain. I have extensive experience with GBV and VAWG through work done with a network of specialist services supporting victims, such as Rape Crisis.

I also have a lengthy background in child protection and safeguarding which informs my work to create the safety and trust needed for a healthy therapeutic relationship. I know my limits however, and if I’m not the right therapist for you or perhaps you need further specialist support, I will sign post you to other spaces and help you find the support you need.

Patterns and fixtures are also particularly insightful once identified in your therapy. The more we understand ourselves and how and when our thoughts, feelings and behaviours were formed, the more compassion and wholeness we can experience.

Gestalt psychotherapy is rich in what it offers and you are the guide to the work. You can expect to be challenged as well as supported; therapy won’t be plain sailing.

It was my life-long dream to be a psychotherapist. As a teenager, I’d come across some material about psychoanalysis and I fell in love with the idea of sitting and listening to the fascinating life stories of strangers. I pay attention to detail, I don’t believe in coincidences and I’m very interested in how attachment plays a role in later life, particularly with relationships. I use these themes as a guide in therapy. I often work with the senses to deepen your connection with what you’re sharing in therapy. You might even notice you have a powerful sense system which may have been underused, until now.

About our sessions

A typical session will involve getting a sense of where you’re at and supporting you into your psychological and embodied process.

I work for a standard therapeutic hour – 50 minutes -though longer sessions are available on request for e.g. 90 minutes for a trauma focussed session.

Couples or intimate relationship therapy can vary from 50 minutes up to 2 hours depending on your needs.

If you are in a polyamorous relationship, my advice would be to go for at least 90 minutes to ensure adequate time and space is offered to all.

Appointments & Fees

The rate for a 50 minute session is: £130 for individuals, £160 for couples, groups are costed according to size, duration and purpose of the group. Concessions are available.

If you’d like to book a short call with me before coming to therapy, reach out via my email with your contact details and we can arrange to have a chat.
